=Oh my gosh. How many different reasons are there to love Ryke Meadows? He has the most amazing, genuine friendship with Daisy. He has incredible self-restraint. He acts like an azz sometimes, but actually puts other people's feelings and interests before his own. He's introspective about things, he's f-ing hot (look at that cover!) AND to top it off, he's a hero.Daisy has had a rough time and it's delightful as a reader to see her finally get a shot at freedom. And to explore that freedom (the open road and Ryke!) with this guy is a dream come true. The banter between these two is pretty charming, and mysteries from the past kept me riveted. There were a lot of things in this book that did bug me and took me out of the story. The excessive use of the word 'engrained.' Ingrained is the typical spelling and it shouldn't be used so many times in one book. Also, Daisy leans against the gas TANK, not the gas CAN. Ryke runs the washcloth under the FAUCET, not under the SINK. These are the sorts of mistakes that I haven't encountered in any of the books by these authors yet, so I was not only bugged by them but I was surprised.
Even though there were those small annoyances, the story overall has been so enjoyable. It is the first series where I have actually used the Whispersync and gone back and forth between reading and listening. I've enjoyed the books and audio very much and I know I will be re-reading / re-listening to these again.

Hothouse Flower Calloway Sisters Book 2 eBook Krista Ritchie Becca Ritchie Reviews
Apparently I was going through a nah-just-keep-reading-don't-leave-a-review phase while I binge-read this series. And let me tell you, binge read I did. The Addicted/Calloway Sisters series is one that I recommend over and over and over again to my friends until they just get so annoyed with my suggestion that they read the series that they do it and fall in love too. I'm going back now to add at least this much Start this series, now.
The Ryke+Daisy storyline was a refreshing change of pace that still kept with the addicted series. The Authors even manage to make Ryke's ridiculous amount of cussing seem like it's normal... Somehow truly adding to the character. Definitely worth the read, and definitely read it with the Addicted series!
Gah! This series! I'm in awe at how amazing it is and continues to be with each book. I know the authors say that you can read the Calloway Sisters series without reading the Addicted series, but I would highly recommend that anyone who hasn't read this series yet start with the Addicted series. There's just so much that a person would miss out on if they skipped.
YES! YES! YES!! Freaking finally we have Ryke and Daisy's book. Daisy is eighteen now!! If you are anything like me and enjoyed the banter and flirting (mostly on Daisy's part) between these two in the previous books, then you were just as excited as I was to read this book.
"Because when you find something you love, you can't quit. Every failure pushes you harder."
The story starts out with us finding out that Daisy has moved out of her parents home. She's been hiding some truths from her family. She doesn't want to add to their stress, but in holding back she's having sleep problems and anxiety issues. As always though, Ryke has been there with her through everything.
Daisy is going to spend a month in Paris while Ryke is going to California to complete a solo climb that he's always wanted to do. Since Daisy has been having trouble sleeping Ryke has been there every night, but with them going in different directions Daisy's perseverance will be put to the test.
We also find out that Lo is struggling with his addiction. He's considering going back to rehab, but Ryke talks him into going to California with him. They can do some bonding and Lo can stay out of the paparazzi's eye if no one knows where he is. Lo only agrees if Connor goes to, so now it's become a boys trip.
But things happen in Paris that leave Daisy making big changes in her life. Ryke runs to the rescue, literally. Finally they open their eyes and make a decision to be together. I have to say their cornfield scene...WOW! So freaking sexy!
What makes their story so special is that from the beginning Ryke thought Daisy was beautiful. When he found out who she was and her age, he backed away and became friends with her. He's remained respectable throughout their entire friendship. Others were leery of his intentions, but Ryke remained a true gentleman or as much of a gentleman as Ryke can be. I loved watching the love blossom between them. It was inevitable.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, the girls mother is awful. I really thought she would have changed some, but I think she's only gotten worse. I hate what she did to Ryke. It was so awful. I love that Daisy is standing up to her more now. I hope Rose and Lily can do the same with the changes coming their way.
I can't wait to read Thrive next. It will focus more on Lily and Lo and while I love all of the characters, this series started with them, so they hold a very special place in my heart.
Ryke and Daisy have my whole heart. I haven't shipped a couple like I ship them in SOOOO very long. They have a wonderful dynamic and I love how Ryke only ever lifts Daisy up. There are a lot of alpha males in NA and they tend to lean towards misogynistic and possessive. None of KB's male leads are like that. Ryke is SUCH an alpha male, but his support and love for Daisy even when they are just friends had me in such awe of his kindness. and Daisy, good god this poor girl. Everything she went through broke my heart in a million pieces, but to see her come out of it and be so strong. A+++ writing and character development. A must read!!!!
This is the second book in the “Calloway Sisters Series”, it can be read as a standalone but would make more sense if read in order.
This is Daisy and Ryke’s story, told from both Daisy and Ryke’s perspective. It is next to impossible to not cheer and root for these two. Their love story and friendship are enviable. They are best friends first and lovers second and this book just oozes with sweetness. Daisy is such a wonderfully written character with such grace and poise with a genuine heart of gold. Ryke, is as usual, his gruff and often hard-headed self. I particularly love the slow buildup of their relationship and they will they won’t they teasers. When they do finally come together, it’s as if the world as righted itself. There are no two characters that deserve as much adoration and fanfare as these two. Krista and Becca never cease to amaze me with how well rounded and relatable their characters are. This is a definite must read and one of my top 5 series.
